Geckoboard's official iOS app is optimized for iPhone 5 and later and compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. The app is available to download on iTunes.

About our iOS app

The app allows Geckoboard users to have view-only access to their dashboards.

If you’d like to give someone access to the iOS app, you will need to add them as a user on your Geckoboard account as either an Organization admin or View-only user.

Note

For extra security and convenience, iOS8 users who have the 1Password app installed are able to use Geckoboard credentials previously saved without having to type them in.

Initial setup

Once the app is installed and the first time you use it, enter your Geckoboard account details directly or via 1Password. Your credentials will be securely stored.

What can the app do?

The app's main feature consists of visualizing the dashboards a Geckoboard user has access to.

Tip

When you look at a dashboard on a big screen, you can see all your widgets at a glance, which due to screen-size limitations isn't the case with the app. To make up for this, if there is a metric that is particularity relevant to you, you can move the widget up in the app so that you have it at easier access, i.e. you don't have to scroll down to reach it.

With the app, you can move widgets up and down to fully customize your view of dashboards. It'simportant to note that moving widgets in the app won't affect their order in the dashboard itself, but only your own personal view via the app.

Viewing dashboards and logging out

From the menu in the top left hand corner, you can choose the dashboard you wish to access.

The menu shows a list of dashboards available to you. At the bottom of the list, you'll find the option to log out.

Known limitations

At present, users can only access Geckoboard from one iOS device at a time. This means that accessing from two iPhones, two iPads or an iPhone and an iPad with the same user at the same time, will result in one of these devices disconnecting (logging off). Different users can access at the same time.

You cannot currently administer or edit dashboards from the mobile app.

A small number of widgets are currently not supported by the app:

  • Clock
  • Text (though Custom Text is supported)
  • QR Code
  • Maps
  • The goal section of the Number and Secondary Stat widgets does not display
  • Only numbers are displayed on Secondary Stats (text does not display)
  • Columns Charts are displayed as Bar Charts.

What about IP Restriction?

IP restriction only applies to dashboards shared via a Sharing link or Dashboard loop. For this reason, IP restricted dashboards will be accessible to users who log in on the iOS app with their account credentials from networks outside of the IP addresses you’ve given access to.
