Add goals to spreadsheet widgets to show your progress towards a particular target over time. Goals are shown as progress bars on number widgets and shaded areas on line, column and bar charts.

Add goals to number widgets

  1. After connecting your spreadsheet to Geckoboard, click a cell containing a single numeric value. When you're happy with your selection, click Create visualization.

  2. Next, you'll see highlighted visualization options for your selection. Click the number icon. In the bottom corner a preview shows how your widget will look. When you're happy with your selection, click Continue >.

  3. Next you'll next see the widget configuration screen and a preview showing your selected number. Click Add comparison visualization to open the goal panel and your spreadsheet.

  4. In the Goal is field enter a value or select another single numeric value from your spreadsheet. You can also enter a Starting from value if your goal doesn't start from 0.

    Click Save to confirm.

  5. Continue configuring your spreadsheet and when you're done, click Save.

Add goals to chart widgets

  1. After connecting your spreadsheet to Geckoboard, click drag cells to select the data range you want to include in your chart. When you're happy with your selection, click > Confirm selection.

  2. Next, you'll see highlighted visualization options for your selection. Click your chosen chart icon. In the bottom corner a preview shows how your widget will look.

    By default, Geckoboard reads the data in columns. If your data series is arranged in rows, click the check box next to Transpose columns into rows.

  3. Now you'll next see the widget configuration screen and a preview showing your chart. Click Add goal to open the goal panel and your spreadsheet.

  4. In the Goal is field enter a value or select another single numeric value from your spreadsheet. Use the toggle to switch the shaded area from More than and Less than the goal value. Click Save to confirm.

  5. Continue configuring your spreadsheet and when you're done, click Save.
