Troubleshooting Microsoft Teams connections for Snapshots or Notifications

Learn about possible limitations for your Microsoft Teams connection.

Updated over a week ago

If you are having difficulty connecting to Microsoft Teams or cannot see the channel you wish to send to within Geckoboard after connecting, this usually means the team has either not been added yet, does not have the necessary permissions, or is an unsupported channel type.

App not installed for Team

Geckoboard will only display Teams and Channels where the Geckoboard app is already installed. If you don't see the Team you're expecting in Geckoboard, you'll want to make sure the app is installed for that team.

Follow the steps in this guide. On step 2, select Add to team and proceed with the rest of the steps as usual.

Permissions issues

It's possible that permissions within your Microsoft Teams instance prevent the installation of apps. If this is the case, you'll want to check with an admin in your team who may be able to install the app or modify permissions to allow the Geckoboard app to be used.

Private channels and group chats are not supported

Private channels or group chats are not supported, as Microsoft does not currently allow apps to send messages in these channels.
