Install and run our kiosk app on a Windows OS device to automatically display your Geckoboard dashboard.

Video tutorial

  1. Login in as an Administrator on your Window device. We recommend creating a new Administrator user for your device and use these credentials just for setting up the Windows Kiosk app.

  2. Connect to your public Wi-Fi. We recommend this for additional security.

  3. Enter https://bit.ly/2SsXdOU in a browser. It may ask for permission to download a .VBS file. Click Save to confirm.

  4. Open the downloaded windows_kiosk.vbs file. It may ask for permission to open the file and to allow the app to make changes to your devices. Click Yes.

  5. When the command prompt window appears, read the notes, then press any key and hit Enter to start the process.

  6. You'll be asked if you'd want this user to automatically login each time the device is booted. We recommend you do this. If you decide to select No, skip to Step 8.

  7. In the User Accounts window. Untick the checkbox beside Users must enter a name and password to use this computer.

disable the need for a user and password to boot Windows 10

Note: In some versions of Windows 10 this checkbox has been removed. To restore it, follow this workaround:

    1. Open Registry Editor, then navigate to the following path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\PasswordLess\Device.

    2. On the right side pane, double click DevicePasswordLessBuildVersion.

    3. In the pop-up window change the Value data decimal to 0 .

    4. Close Registry Editor.

    5. Restart your machine and return to Step 4 when you first open the downloaded windows_kiosk.vbs file. This time the checkbox should appear.

  8. In the User Accounts window, click Apply, followed by OK. Enter and confirm the current user's password.

  9. If Google Chrome isn't found on your device it will now be installed automatically. Chrome will boot automatically following installation. When it's finished close the browser window or switch back to the command prompt.

  10. Reboot your computer, closing any other open applications.

  11. Depending on whether you selected automatic login, you'll notice the Passcode screen appear. This is the code you'll need to link your Geckoboard dashboard.

  12. Login to Geckoboard on a different device and use Send to TV to display your Geckoboard dashboard. Make sure the timezone set on your device matches that of your dashboard.
