Casting your dashboard to a screen using Chromecast or Apple TV is only suitable for testing or brief, temporary presentations. For an always-on dashboard display, use our recommended hardware with an officially supported browser.
Why casting isn't reliable
Casting requires:
Your computer to stay on and connected
The browser tab to remain open
Your computer not to sleep or disconnect from Wi-Fi
Constant use of your computer's resources
These requirements make casting unsuitable for the always-on display most teams need.
Chromecast (for temporary use)
Create a share link for your Geckoboard dashboard and open it in a new browser window
Mac: Click View in the menu bar, then Cast…
Windows: Click Chrome's menu and select Cast…In the Cast dialog select Cast tab, then click your Chromecast
Apple TV setup (for temporary use)
Create a share link for your Geckoboard dashboard and open it in a new browser window.
Click the AirPlay icon in your Mac's menu bar
(If missing, go to the Apple menu > System Preferences > Displays, and check Show mirroring options in the menu bar when available.)Select your Apple TV (ensure both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network).
Enter the AirPlay passcode if prompted.
Click the AirPlay icon again, select Use As Separate Display.
Drag the browser window to your TV screen.
