Track progress on your spreadsheet numbers

In this article we'll show you how to use our Spreadsheets data source to add goals to visualizations to show your progress towards a particular target over time.

Add goal progress bars to numbers

  1. After connecting your spreadsheet to Geckoboard, click a cell containing a single numeric value.click drag to cell you want to visualize
  2. When you're happy with your selection, click > Confirm selection.
  3. You'll now see highlighted visualization options. Click the + button that replaces the Number icon to select.
  4. Next you'll next see the widget configuration screen and a preview showing your selected number. Click Add comparison visualization to open the goal panel and your spreadsheet.
  5. In the Goal is field enter a value or select another single numeric value from your spreadsheet. You can also enter a Starting from value if your goal doesn't start from 0.

  6. Continue configuring your spreadsheet and when you're done, click Save.

Add shaded goal areas to charts

  1. After connecting your spreadsheet to Geckoboard, click drag cells to select the data range you want to include in your chart.click drag to select the data range you want to visualize
  2. When you're happy with your selection, click > Confirm selection.
  3. You'll now see highlighted visualization options. For this walkthrough we're going to click the + button that replaces the Column chart icon to select.

    By default, Geckoboard reads the data in columns. If your data series is arranged in rows, click the check box next to Transpose columns into rows.
  4. Now you'll next see the widget configuration screen and a preview showing your column chart. Click Add goal to open the goal panel and your spreadsheet.
  5. In the Goal is field enter a value or select another single numeric value from your spreadsheet. Use the toggle to switch the shaded area from More than and Less than the goal value. Click Save to confirm.Add a goal value to a chart visualization
  6. Continue configuring your spreadsheet and when you're done, click Save.
