In this guide, we'll walk through all the options for sharing your dashboard, whether on a big screen in the office, via Slack, or in a link—we've got you covered.
Sharing your dashboards with others can help:
Create visibility of key data within your company or with external stakeholders such as investors.
Allow others to take action based on changes they witness in the data on your dashboards.
Building a culture of data awareness.
Becoming a data-driven organization.
Below are some of the best ways to share your dashboards and hopefully witness some or all of what we’ve described above. Check out all the options to decide what's best for your team.
Create a shareable link
A share link is a URL that opens a view-only version of your dashboard in any browser. While viewing your dashboard, click the Share button, create and copy a link, then share it with your team.
Share a Snapshot via Slack or email
Send a Snapshot via Slack
If your company uses Slack, sending regular Snapshots of your dashboards to specific channels is a great way to keep everyone in the loop about the metrics you’re tracking.
Connect Slack to Geckoboard and configure a schedule
In the top right corner of your dashboard, click Share and go to the Slack tab. From there you can connect your Slack account. Select when you’d like your Snapshots to be sent via email.
If you’d like to share snapshots to private Slack channels, you’ll also need to go to the channel and type /invite @Geckoboard
to invite the Geckoboard app to the channel.
Send a Snapshot via email
One of the best ways to ensure your dashboards are seen is with regular Snapshots sent via email.
Invite email addresses to receive Snapshots and set a schedule
In the top right corner of your dashboard, click Share and go to the Email tab, then add email addresses for team members you'd like to share your dashboard with. Select when you’d like your Snapshots to be sent via email.
For each email address, the invitee must accept the invitation via email before they will start receiving Snapshots. Once the invitation has been accepted, email Snapshots of the dashboard will be sent automatically according to your schedule.
Display dashboards on a TV
Displaying dashboards on a TV in the office is a sure way to increase the visibility of metrics and department performance. The best way to do this is with one of our recommended devices, along with the Send to TV feature. Here’s how:
On the computer connected to your TV, open your browser and type gbrd.tv in the URL field.
A passcode will pop up in your browser.
On a separate computer, log into your Geckoboard account and click Send to TV.
Click + Add new screen.
Enter the passcode, then click Connect to pair your dashboard.
Invite users to your account
If you’d like to require users to log in to view dashboards on your account, the best way to do this is by inviting them. Click People from the top of your account to start inviting users via email or use the Invite menu to grant limited access to specific dashboards.
Embed your dashboard in other tools
If your team spends a lot of time in other tools, embedding a dashboard into the tool can help ensure your most important metrics are seen. To get started, follow the steps in this guide to create a share link and build an iFrame to use in other tools.
