How to display Salesforce data on your dashboard

Connect your Salesforce report to Geckoboard to begin visualizing your data.

Updated this week

In this guide, we'll cover the basics of connecting your Salesforce report to Geckoboard as well as how to customize your widgets and dashboard. Follow the steps below to get started.

  1. Enable API access within Salesforce if it's not already enabled.

  2. Review how Salesforce report data connects with Geckoboard to ensure your report is formatted as needed.

  3. If you don't have a report setup yet, you can build a report specifically for Geckoboard:

Get connected

Connect your Salesforce account with these steps:

  1. Click the + Add widget in the top right of your dashboard.

  2. Search for and select Salesforce from the list.

  3. Click the Connect via Salesforce button, log in, and follow the prompts to create the connection.

  4. Search for the report by name or select the folder it lives in, then click on the report in the list to open the configuration panel.

Customize your widget

After selecting your report, the widget configuration panel will open, and you can begin customizing your widget. You can select the visualization, modify the X and Y axis content and labels, and fine-tune the data by adjusting abbreviations, decimal places, and units. Once you've configured the settings you prefer, click Add to dashboard to save the widget.

The visualizations and data available for customization will depend on your report configuration.

Expand your dashboard

Duplicate widgets to quickly build out the dashboard

Now that your first widget is set up, you can add more widgets quickly using the Duplicate feature:

  1. Find the widget you want to copy, hover over the top right of the widget, click the ellipsis, then click Duplicate.

  2. On the new copy that appears, hover over the top right of your widget, click the ellipsis, then click Edit.

  3. Make any necessary changes to the configuration.

  4. Click Save.

Repeat this process for any other widgets that you’d like to create or add a new widget and select from the pre-built widget options.

Arrange the layout of your widgets

To change the layout of widgets on the dashboard, we can move and resize widgets or group them together to make the relationship between data clearer. Here's how:

  • Move widgets with drag-and-drop; a box will appear indicating where you can drop the widget.

  • Resize widgets by hovering, then clicking and dragging one of the sides to change the height or width.

  • Group widgets by dragging and dropping a widget onto another to create a group.
