Google Analytics 4 (GA4) tracks requests using tokens and enforces multiple limits on their usage. Heavy requests—such as those with wide date ranges, many dimensions, or numerous metrics—can quickly exhaust your quota. For specifics, refer to Google’s Data API limits documentation.
If you see a "We were unable to build your widget" error, you've likely hit a GA4 limit. This could be due to daily, hourly, per-property, or concurrent request restrictions, often triggered by multiple dashboards with many widgets sharing the same view.
To avoid this, reduce the number of GA4 widgets, filters, or comparisons in use and query shorter time periods where possible. If using real-time metrics, reduce or limit the number of real-time widgets overall. Also, keep in mind that any other tools connected to GA4 contribute to your token usage.
