Restrict access to your dashboards by IP address

Control which networks or devices can access your shared Geckoboard dashboards using IP restrictions.

We take the security of your data seriously. To restrict access to a shared dashboard, you can use IP restrictions to control which networks or devices can view it.

You must input public IPv4 addresses. We do not currently support IPv6 addresses. You can check if your public IP address is IPv4 using showmyipaddress.eu.

To restrict access to your dashboards by IP address, follow these steps:

  1. On the dashboard you want to restrict access to, click Settings from the navigation menu.

  2. From the drop-down menu, click Dashboard settings.

  3. In the Allowed device IP addresses field, add the IP addresses you want to allow.

    settings options
  4. Click Save.

It is possible to enter IP ranges, e.g. 108.171.123.0/24. If you need to add more than one range, simply separate them with a comma, e.g. 108.171.123.0/24, 27.123.64.0/24.

Expected behavior when IP address restrictions are enabled

  • A 404 error will be displayed if access to a Sharing link is attempted outside of an allowed network.

  • Dashboards with IP restrictions will only appear in Loops if the user is viewing the Loop from an included IP.

  • Dashboards will be visible to all users on your account who are account owners, organization admins, or have users who have read-only access to the dashboard, including via our iOS app.

  • Widgets will fail to load if a dashboard displayed using Send to screen is restricted to a different network.
